Mandy Moore Reveals She Was In Love With Shane West While Filming 'A Walk To Remember'

Warner Bros

It's no doubt A Walk To Remember is an all-time classic.

The epitome of the romance genre, girls everywhere cried over Jamie's death, and how it affected her beloved.

Mandy Moore and Shane West had inarguable chemistry that made everyone hope for such a powerful love, including the one of the movie's own stars.

Following the film's 16th anniversary on January 25, Moore shared an adorable throwback on Instagram celebrating the film's release.

Despite the tribute, Moore admitted that she hasn't watched the film that catapulted her into movie stardom in the last ten years.

"[It’s] bananas," she told Us Weekly. "It [makes] me feel real old! It’s crazy. It feels like another lifetime ago. But I’m so happy to celebrate it and so happy that people still — it’s relevant and still means something to people. That means a lot."

But that doesn't mean the actress doesn't have any more tidbits to share.

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Moore said she while filming A Walk To Remember, she was absolutely smitten with West.

"Shane was so cool. Everything about him – the way he dressed, the little cigarettes that he smoked, and the music he listened to. He was the character to me and there was definitely a part of me that absolutely fell in love with him," Moore admitted.

"I don’t know if I could discern the difference between him and the character at that point in time because, again, it was my first experience doing anything like this and I was a 16-year-old, impressionable girl. I was just so caught up in the moment and the experience," she added.

On his part, West said he couldn't picture anyone else in Moore's iconic role.

"It might have because the believability wasn’t there. It just didn’t feel right. The person just didn’t seem right. When they brought up Mandy, I was like 'I don’t know Mandy.' Then we had that meeting where we had an audition and were both in the same room and I was like, 'She’s perfect for the role,'" West said.

While they never got together in real life, it's amazing to see that they still hold each other in high regard after all these years!
