Uncle Jesse And Aunt Becky Were The Best Couple Of The 90s, And Keep Proving It 30 Years Later

ABC

When you think back to all the most famous couples of the 90s, I'm sure a few stand out. Sure, Ross and Rachel were popular, and the whole Brenda/Kelly/Dylan love triangle was interesting, but there was one relationship that has proven to truly stand the test of time.

When Uncle Jesse met Danny Tanner's new Wake Up, San Francisco co-host, Rebecca "Becky" Donaldson, the whole world shifted. It was like everything fell into place. There were harps playing beautiful melodies, the sun came out from behind a thunderous cloud, and everyone on the planet felt some peace.

Jesse and Becky became the best couple on television. They first met in second season of Full House, but the couple fell in love fast and haven't been apart since.

They were unlike a lot of the couples we see on television, which is probably what made them feel so special and different.

While the plot line of the couple was clearly great, the chemistry these two actors shared is really what tipped it over the edge. John Stamos and Lori Laughlin have been friends since before they were on the show, and their bond has continued long after.

Just recently, Stamos shared a picture of the two of them on a boat in honor of her birthday.

He wrote a caption that melted the hearts of every 90s kid. "Been Jesse to your Rebecca for 30 years.  30 more, then that’s it! I don’t for one second take for granted your talent, your heart and most importantly, our friendship.  Happy Birthday Lori, XO."

She replied, "It's been a great 30! I'm so glad we've been on this journey together!! I love ya buddy!!"

But it's not just the sweet birthday messages that made us turn into little puddles, it happens basically any time they talk about each other.

Laughlin has spoken about her thoughts on the iconic relationship, and she admits that she doesn't fully understand it all.

“John and I had so much fun together, but even I am like, ‘Why are people so obsessed with these two?’" Laughlin said.

It's not even just the characters that people care about though, people actually wished that the two stars would get together.

But timing always seemed to be an issue for the two, as Laughlin was married when Stamos was single, and then vice versa, but there was one time where it almost was real.

Before they worked on Full House, the two actors were both on soap operas. This would have been before Laughlin or Stamos's marriages. They ended up going on a date, but at the time Laughlin didn't realize it was supposed to be romantic.

“He asked me to go to Disneyland to see a band,” Laughlin explained, but she says they don't always agree on whether it was a date or not. “We fight internally about that. I’m like, ‘Was that a date?’ He’s like, ‘Yeah!’"

Stamos believes it was a date because of how it ended. “As I recall, we ended up kissing,” he said. “That sounds like a date, right?”

He went into more, saying she "could be the one that got away."

"We were friends, we were on the soaps together and we actually did date," Stamos said. "We went on a date to Disneyland before, you know, before we were both married. In real life, when we were 18, 19 years old. We did have some off timing, but no disrespect to her family and her husband now, I would say that she could be the one that got away."

The two actors are both happily married now, and have become close friends. It works out great because they both appear on the Full House reboot Fuller House as the still happily married couple Becky and Jesse.

It's nice to know they still get along so well after all this time!
