The Genie Was Supposed To Look Completely Different, And We're Really Not Okay With It

Obviously we all feel like we know everything there is to know about Aladdin, but even after all these years new details are still popping up! It has been many years since the movie came out, but there are still hidden secrets that we are learning and honestly it feels like a whole new world.

The new movie might be in production, but we will always hold the original in our hearts. It was arguably one of the top five most amazing Disney movies ever made, largely due to Robin Williams's character. The Genie not only made us laugh, but he also had some pretty powerful moments that made us all experience a surprising amount of emotion. We never expected the comic relief to make us cry, but you have to admit when he is forced into hurting his friend you were tearing up. That's one amazing character.

How would you feel knowing that he almost looked very different? The original voice of Jafar, Jonathan Freeman, revealed that the concept art for the Genie had a completely different look than how we know him. It would probably change how you feel about the character.

Seriously, you've got to see it...

Prepare yourself, because the original concept art is a little shocking.

Instead of the blue Genie with big broad shoulders and expertly groomed facial hair, they thought that this would be a better option:

What even is this thing?! Even though it looks like it couldn't get any worse, it does. This is a drawing they had for a scene that thankfully was removed.

Freeman said that "I had forgotten about it and I recently saw an old piece of footage of me working in the studio and I'm actually doing a scene where I'm talking about, 'you big green boob' or something like that. And you see Ron Clements (one of the film's directors) walk into the frame, sort of quietly, taps me on the shoulder, and says, 'he's not green anymore, by the way, he's blue."

Well, we're glad they switched him to The Genie we all know and love, because I don't think it would have been as good otherwise!
