A New 'Charlie's Angels' Reboot Is Officially Happening

Decades ago, we all fell in love with three women who were all so tough and cool. They all worked for this super mysterious rich man named Charlie, and together they helped solve crimes and help people out.

Charlie's Angels originally came out in 1976 as a TV show, making stars out of Kate Jackson, Jaclyn Smith, and of course, Farrah Fawcett.

They were just so cool, and while some people liked to say that it was just fluff, a lot of us genuinely loved it.

ABC

The show lasted for five seasons, and inspired a few spin-offs. The movies were definitely the most famous versions. They had Cameron Diaz, Lucy Liu, and Drew Barrymore as the new angels, and they even got a sequel a couple of years later.

In 2011, they tried to make another reboot, but the show didn't work out. It only lasted for eight episodes before being cancelled, but apparently that's not enough to give up on the franchise.

Columbia Pictures

Even though it's been over 40 years since the original show, they've decided to bring it back once again.

A new Charlie's Angels movie is actually set to start filming in next spring!

The movie will be made by Sony and they are hoping that they can bank on the fact that other female-driven movies have been really successful lately.

The cast of the movie has not been finalized yet, but the three top contenders are Kristen Stewart, Lupita Nyong'o, and Naomi Scott.

We all know Stewart from the Twilight franchise, Nyong'o from Black Panther, and relative newcomer Scott was in Power Rangers and is Jasmine in the new live-action Aladdin.

The movie will be directed and produced by Pitch Perfect 2 director Elizabeth Banks, and she will likely be taking over the role of Bosley.

This new movie is scheduled to come out June 7, 2019, so hopefully we will find out some more details soon!

Are you excited for a new Charlie's Angels? Or do you think it should stay in past?

The original Charlie's Angels was a real classic and there's a lot that people don't know about it.

It's obviously not the first time shows have been rebooted, it's been going on for years and year.

There are also a lot of other reboots happening soon that we aren't really ready for.
