The First 'Toy Story 4' Teaser Is Here And They've Revealed A New Character

YouTube - Disney-Pixar

As we all sit impatiently awaiting our inevitable sobs that will follow when we finally get to watch Toy Story 4, all we can do is grasp at anything they give us.

When Tim Allen told us that it was so emotional that even he couldn't get through it we got nervous. And then Tom Hanks seemed to agree with him by saying that the story was so powerful he couldn't even look at the people in the room while he delivered his lines.

We all know that this movie will basically destroy us, right? We all know to go in make-up free, tissues ready, prepared to cry until no more tears come out. But now we've gotten the first look at the movie, and while we're not crying yet, it does give us a tiny, itty-bitty, hint at what's to come.

Disney released the trailer on Monday, November 12th, and it all starts so happy.

We see Woody first, smiling against a cloud background, and as the camera pans down we see him holding hands and spinning in a slow-motion circle.

Buzz has a hold of his hand, followed by Jessie, Mr. and Mrs. Potato Head, Rex, Ham, one of the three-eyed aliens, and Slink.

As Slink's long spring body reaches the end, we meet our new character, and it doesn't look as happy to be there as the rest of them.

It's a spork with pipecleaner arms and googley eyes, and it screams out "I don't belong here!" before running out of the circle and causing a big ol' toy pile up.

After every single one of the memorable toy characters is sent flying, this new spork runs back yelling "I'm not a toy!" before running off into the distance.

But as a good leader does, Woody calls out "Hey, somebody get him before he pokes an eye out!"

He's always looking out for his friends, even the new ones!

The movie will be released June 21st, 2019, but the director of the movie gave us a little bit of details of this new character.

The spork is described as "an actual spork-turned-craft project who insists he isn't a toy." He's named Forky by Bonnie, the girl who was gifted all of Andy's old toys when he went off to college.

Director Josh Cooley released a statement on this exciting new movie:

“Like most people, I assumed that Toy Story 3 was the end of the story. And it was the end of Woody’s story with Andy.

But just like in life, every ending is a new beginning. Woody now being in a new room, with new toys, and a new kid, was something we have never seen before. The questions of what that would be like became the beginning of an entertaining story worth exploring.”

How did Forky come to be? Cooley continued on to explain this poor conflicted "toy's" existence.

“The world of Toy Story is built upon the idea that everything in the world has a purpose. A toy’s purpose is to be there for its child. But what about toys that are made out of other objects?

Forky is a toy that Bonnie made out of a disposable spork, so he’s facing a crisis. He wants to fulfill his purpose as a spork, but now has a new toy purpose thrust upon him.”

The official synopsis has been released along with the teaser, so now we know that Forky is going to be a big part of this next chapter in these toys' lives.

“Woody has always been confident about his place in the world and that his priority is taking care of his kid, whether that’s Andy or Bonnie. But when Bonnie adds a reluctant new toy called ‘Forky’ to her room, a road trip adventure alongside old and new friends will show Woody how big the world can be for a toy.”
