Tom DeLonge Teases Possible Return To Blink-182

If you were a teenager in the late 90s, then chances are blink-182 were a significant part of your teen years (whether you liked it or not). The boys from Poway, California started out as a normal enough pop-punk band, but soon hit the big time thanks to a combination of catchy hooks, hilarious music videos, and of course, tons of potty humor.

blink-182

For an immature teen these guys were like candy, and we all bought their albums and flocked to their concerts in droves, often to listen to something that was half pop-punk and half standup comedy. Alas, nothing good ever lasts forever, and the band announced they were going on "indefinite hiatus" in 2005. Since then, they've reunited and released new material, only for guitarist/singer Tom DeLonge to once again announce his exit from the band in 2014 in order to focus on investigating alien activity. No, seriously.

Drummer Travis Barker, who often handles the band's press, commented at the time that "I'd do interviews and I just felt awful for fans because they were promised albums for years and we couldn't do it," adding that with DeLonge's departure "Why blink even got back together in the first place is questionable."

The band has continued recording and touring, replacing DeLonge with Alkaline Trio's Matt Skiba, but recent posts from DeLonge have hinted that he might in fact be returning to the band after all...

DeLonge recently took a break from hunting extraterrestrials to take to his Instagram account with some cryptic, and possibly cool news. He says:

"So Travis calls me and asks me to do an interview... next thing I know all these cameras have invaded my office. I have a feeling he just wanted some super hi-res footage of my body. And yes Blinkies, we also talked a bit about other stuff. :) #TravisAndTomHoldingHands"

This isn't the first time DeLonge has hinted at a possible return to the band. Back in May, he told the San Diego Union-Tribune that "Blink is in my DNA. I talk to Travis quite a bit and we try and figure out how and when it’s going to make sense. It’s not like I (permanently) walked away. They have someone doing my job for me (in blink). It’s just that I’m so busy. If I wanted to, I could be back (in blink) in a period of days."

What do you think? Would you like to see Tom DeLonge back in blink-182?
