Apparently This Is Who Will Be Playing The Genie And I Don't Know How To Feel About It

There are some characters who are too iconic to ever replace, and Genie in Aladdin feels like one of those characters. Robin Williams took that movie from good to a level of perfection not often achieved by a cartoon. But of course, Williams is no longer with us and because they are making a live action version someone will have to fill in.

Currently in the running? Will Smith. Now, who doesn't love Will Smith? He's funny, clever and has been pretty great in everything he has done but do you think he will be able to handle such an iconic role? I really don't know...

<amp-anim src="https://legacy.throwbacks.com/content/images/2017/04/anigif_7bdfda4800fe52f593c7c6459cbe5386-63.gif" height="9" width="16" layout="responsive"></amp-anim>

The live action reboot of Aladdin will follow the same path as Beauty and the Beast, keeping the musical element alive. Do you think Smith will add in some Fresh Prince style raps? Who knows.

<amp-img src="https://legacy.throwbacks.com/content/images/2017/04/will-smith-net-worth.jpg" title="" alt="" height="9" width="16" layout="responsive"></amp-img>

The script is being written by John August who was responsible for Big Fish and will be directed by Guy Ritchie who you may remember from Snatch or Sherlock Holmes. Smith had been in talks to be in the live action Dumbo movie but it didn't work out.

<amp-img src="https://legacy.throwbacks.com/content/images/2017/04/aladdin-genie.jpg" title="" alt="" height="9" width="16" layout="responsive"></amp-img>

These talks are still really early so nothing is set in stone, but how would you feel if the Fresh Prince of Bel-Air was the new Genie? I honestly have no idea how to feel about it, it could be really good, but I also feel like it's going to be hard to see anyone who isn't Robin Williams in that role.

Let us know in the comments who you think should play the Genie!
