It seems like in the 90's and early 2000's Meg Ryan popped up in every romantic comedy that made it to the silver screen.

Starting her acting career in 1981 in minor roles, she joined the cast of the CBS soap opera, As The World Turns in 1982. Continuing to appear in support roles, in the mid-1980s, she achieved her first Golden Globe Nomination in 1989 for When Harry Met Sally.

After that, Meg Ryan established herself as one of the most successful actresses of the 90's and early 2000's.

Sleepless in Seattle (1993)

Grossing over $220 million worldwide, this romantic comedy-drama had us all captivated by the story-line and moving characters.

Appearing next to Tom Hanks, Ryan is able to make us fall in love all over again.

French Kiss (1995)

Hoping on a plane to Paris, Ryan flies to meet her straying fiance and gets into trouble when a charming crook sitting next to her uses her to smuggle a stolen diamond necklace.

Ryan appears alongside Kevin Kline in this romantic comedy film that had American reviewers split on the success of this movie. The film ended up grossing $101,982,854 worldwide so it was far from a failure.

In 2003, Ryan broke away from her usual roles and starred alongside Mark Ruffalo and Jennifer Jason Leigh in the erotic thriller In The Cut. This role would have Ryan appear nude in a lengthy, graphic love scene for the first time in her career.

She continued to choose roles out of her former comfort zone, before taking a three-year hiatus.

The actress was married to actor Dennis Quaid in 199,1 and had a son together, Jack Quaid born in 1992. The couple divorced in 2001 after Ryan revealed Quaid had been unfaithful to her in their marriage.

In 2006, Ryan adopted a 14-month-old girl from China who she named Daisy True.

In 2010 Ryan and singer John Mellencamp got together. They ended their on-again-off-again relationship in 2015.
