Clue Remake Announces Their Star And Hints At What To Expect, And We're Not Sure How To Feel

The classic board game turned hilarious cult classic is coming back to the big screen and people are getting excited about the new casting announcement.

The board game Clue came out all the way back in 1949, but it was in 1985 that they developed one of the funniest movies of our generation. The murder mystery starred Tim Curry, Madeline Kahn, Christopher Lloyd, Michael McKean, Martin Mull, Lesley Ann Warren, and Eileen Brennan.

Universal Pictures

The movie was really one of a kind in that it had three alternate endings. Spoilers ahead if you haven't watched it!

Ending A

Paramount Pictures

The first ending shows that Miss Scarlet is responsible for the murders of all the victims with her accomplice Yvette. She ends up killing Yvette and tries to escape while holding a gun on the Wadsworth who turns out to be an undercover FBI agent and arrests her.

Ending B

Mrs. Peacock was the murderer of all the victims and once again Wadsworth reveals himself to be an FBI agent and she is arrested.

Ending C

Universal Pictures

This one has a message that says "but here's what really happened." Each murder is committed by a different person, but by the time everyone is revealed, they learn that Wadsworth (the butler) is actually Mr. Boddy and this was all an elaborate scheme. But then Mr. Green shoots him and reveals that he is an FBI agent and arrests everyone.

It's all very strange, but now they are trying to bring it back with a brand new movie and a brand new cast. Here's what we know so far...

Rumors of a Clue reboot have been circling for years, but in 2016, development moved from Universal to Fox and seems to have found new life.

The Clue remake finally has a team of writers and a star at the helm, and it's a surprising choice. Ryan Reynolds and his Deadpool writers Rhett Resese and Paul Wenick have teamed up to bring Clue back to the big screen. They have been working together a lot since the success of Deadool and with Reynolds's new production company, Maximum Effort, they have really started to nail down the plan for the movie.

Michael Tran/FilmMagic

It's being called a "star vehicle" for Reynolds, which suggests he will probably be in the Tim Curry role or maybe as Mr. Green. This movie will fall into the new three-year first-look deal that Reynolds's production company made with Fox, so hopefully it's as successful as this team's former work!

The plan for the movie is that it will be a "worldwide mystery" and they are calling it an action-adventure movie. That's a lot different than the one location murder mystery of the original movie.

Hard to know what it will really be like, but we will keep you updated with any news about future casting and release dates! Are you excited about it, or are you skeptical?
