7 Electrifyin' Facts You Didn't Know About John Travolta

John Travolta is one of the biggest stars in Hollywood. His career has survived some big successes, some notorious flops and everything in between. Whether you are a fan or not, he has been around forever and lived an interesting life.

Parmount Pictures

Travolta started acting back in 1972, but even though he has been around for so long, there is a lot people don't seem to know about him. Here are 7 interesting facts about the famous actor.

He released a hit song

When Travolta was 22 he debuted a single called "Let Her In". It managed to get all the way up to number 10 on the Billboard Hot 100. He then released an album to go along with it.

He had a crush on Olivia Newton John

Paramount Pictures

There were a lot of rumors about the two stars of Grease, but they both claim that nothing ever happened. Travolta did admit years later that "We both had a crush on each other. It created great chemistry."

They are actually still really good friends and meet up twice a year just the two of them to catch up.

He wrote a kids book

Back in 1997, Travolta wrote a children's book about a boy who moved to Hollywood and became a pilot.

Obviously having his story about a pilot is a clear nod to his real life because Travolta is a pilot himself. His house is a pretty clear indication of this...

His house is basically an airport

John Travolta is a licensed pilot, and he designed his home with this in mind. Not only is he able to fly planes, but he actually owns several airplanes. He has a Boeing 707, a Bombardier Challenger 601, an Eclipse 500 and a Soko Galeb G-2 fighter jet. He keeps the planes in their own hangars that attach right to his house. He attached the runway to the Jumbolair Aviation Estates taxiway so he can go right from his home to his plane.

He's been with his wife Kelly Preston since 1989

They met on the set of The Experts and fell in love. They were married in a Scientologist ceremony after being together for three years, but because that isn't recognized by the legal system they had another ceremony a couple years later.

He danced with Princess Diana

PA

Even though his career was having a bit of trouble in the 80s, he did get to dance with the one and only Princess Diana! He was invited to President Reagan's grand gala and Princess Diana was there as well. She actually requested the dance, saying that she had always wanted to dance with him.  “I’ll never forget it,” Travolta said. “I’m so honored that I was able to experience this and I know that for a fact that it was her highlight in being in the United States. So it was her favorite moment. I feel like I made her life better. She made my life better. I’m very sorry she’s not here.”

He has been a Scientologist since 1975

He used to be Catholic until a costar gave him L. Ron Hubbard's book Dianetics. Travolta didn't stop there, he converted to the religion and remains a member of the church to this day.

John Travolta has had a few controversial moments in his career over the years, but he still manages to be one of the biggest stars in Hollywood. Share if you love John Travolta!
