Tim Curry as Dr. Frank N. Furter, Richard O'Brien as Riff Raff, Patricia Quinn as Magenta and Nell Campbell as Columbia were all playing the same parts as they did in the stage production.

Apparently it was freezing inside and there were no working toilets in the whole building. It was so chilly that Susan Sarandon actually caught pneumonia during production. Apparently she refused treatment even though she had a super high fever after filming the pool scene.

Rumor has it that the director had to agree to that to get her to sign on to the movie. In the play, Quinn sang the song, but for the movie they wanted O'Brien to provide the vocals. Quin wasn't happy, but at least she got one small victory.
Mick Jagger wanted to play Dr. Frank N. Furter
Richard O'Brien insisted that Curry keep his role. Another actor almost cast in the movie was Steve Martin in the role of Brad.
Dr. Frank N. Furter was originally German
For the first few shows Curry played the character with w German accent but when he heard a particularly posh woman on the bus he realized that "Yes, he should sound like the Queen."
The movie is still being shown in theaters regularly because people have silly traditions that match to the parts. Have you ever seen it in a theater? It's absolutely insane!
