'Roseanne' Pokes Fun At Dan's Death In New Revival Promos

ABC

When we first heard Roseanne was coming back on air, everyone from casual watchers to mega fans squealed in delight.

Slowly but surely, we've been given details on the revival by cast and crew, from "who will be returning?" to "what will happen to the second Becky?"

While we were elevated that John Goodman (who played Roseanne's husband Dan Conner) will be returning for the reboot, fans were unclear how the series would incorporate him into the show as his character had passed away from a fatal heart attack in the series finale.

Theories of Dan's resurrection circulated the web, with people suggesting his death was just another dream sequence, he's become a ghost, or the revival will ignore that plot line entirely.

Earlier this year, ABC Entertainment President Channing Dungey said while he wouldn't reveal how the Conner patriarch will be reintroduced, but he will be alive.

"I don’t want to talk too specifically, but I wouldn’t say we’ll ignore the events of the finale," Dungey says. "Dan is definitely still alive."

While his words failed to answer our burning question, we have now been temporarily pacified as the beloved sitcom has released three promos, all including Goodman.

The new promos for the revival have reminded us why we loved the quick-witted show, while also poking fun at Goodman's reappearance.

In the first clip, Dan and Becky (Lecy Goranson) are watching a sports game, when Roseanne comes in.

"You can’t live in the past, Dan. When things are gone, they’re gone forever," Rosanne says.

In the next two promos, Roseanne, Dan and Darlene, (by Sara Gilbert) are discussing basketball.

According to the show's executive producer Bruce Helford - regardless of the explanation behind Dan's death - they hope the reemergence of Roseanne will be able to give its viewers the same entertainment it did back in the 90s.

"We want everybody to see something that doesn’t really exist on TV anymore - an honest family," Helford told EW. "These people are very much the core of what’s going on in the country right now."

Will you be watching Roseanne when the show returns to air on March 27?

She's A Little Bit Country, He's A Little Bit Rock & Roll, But What Was Really Going On Behind The Scenes?

Donny and Marie Osmond were the siblings that we all longed to be like. Why couldn't we get along with our brothers and sisters like they did? What was it about this singing and dancing family that just seemed weirdly delightful?  The show only ran for three years, but in that time, they managed to gain an enormous audience.
