John Goodman Reveals What It's Been Like To Film 'The Conners' Without Roseanne Barr

We are only a few days away from the premiere of The Conners, which means that the cast promotions are in full swing. But I think it's safe to say that the person most people are interested to hear from is none other than John Goodman.

Goodman's role as Dan Conner is one of the most iconic on television. He's one of those TV dads you wish you could spend time with, and we are all curious to see how his world will change with his on-screen wife leaving.

He has already gotten into some issues over the new show though, after he accidentally spoiled the fact that they were planning on killing Roseanne Conner off the show as a way to write her out.

Goodman revealed that his character will be going through some heavy emotions due to the loss of his wife.

"I guess he'll be mopey and sad because his wife's dead."

He wasn't supposed to say that apparently, because on a new interview with Jimmy Kimmel he said that the network doesn't like when he talks about the future of the show.

"They don't like me to talk about it," Goodman explained. "I got interviewed for a thing I was doing on the BBC, in London and I go 'well, it's London, no one's going to hear it.'"

But even though he couldn't reveal a lot about the plot, he did open up about how he handled the fact that his friend was no longer on the show with him.

"She is missed, definitely," Goodman stated. "After that many years it's like a family, and last year it was so miraculous and so unreal. When it went away it was almost like a dream. I thought I would be a big boy and handle it and I just crashed for a couple weeks."

The cancellation of his show wasn't the only thing Goodman was dealing with at the time. "All kinds of weird stuff happened, my wife got sick right after that, then I fell down the stairs."

He's grateful that Barr gave up her stake in the show. "It was an effort by Sara Gilbert, Tom Werner, and they got ABC to come around from what I understand, and she gave up a lot so people can work."

"Same family, minus mom."

"It's weird. It was very weird doing the first show without her because she's my buddy. We'd just sit there and she'd make me laugh and I'd make her laugh, which is always fun because there's always a danger of her peeing herself," Goodman joked.

He finished off by thanking her. "She gave up a lot for us to be able to do this show and I can't thank her enough."
