'Daria' Is Coming Back To MTV With A New Show But I Bet She'd Hate It

MTV

She was the star of one of the hit cartoons of the 90s, but if she knew that, she'd probably be really unhappy about it.

The cynical teen Daria, was actually a character in Beavis and Butt-Head, but people liked the character so much that she got her own show.

It lasted for five seasons on MTV, and while she never really expressed much excitement in her facial expressions, those of us who were maybe feeling a little apathetic ourselves really loved her.

However, because the year is now 2018 and TV networks have completely run out of ideas, they are rebooting Daria into a brand new show.

This reboot comes with the news that MTV has launched a new production unit called MTV Studios, and it has a few shows under development that will fall under their umbrella.

The Real World will be coming back, as well as a new cartoon reimagining of Aeon Flux. They've also got a few new reality shows lined up, but it's really Daria we all care about right?

President of MTV was excited to work with new people. "With MTV Studios, we are for the first time ever opening up this vault beyond our own platforms to reimagine the franchises with new partners.”

The Daria reboot currently has a working title of Daria & Jodie, and the log line they have for it reveals a little bit of the plot.

"The iconic animated franchise is reinvented through the eyes of heroine Daria Morgendorffer and one of her closest friends Jodie Landon."

"These two smart young women take on the world, with their signature satirical voice while deconstructing popular culture, social classes, gender and race. "

It's being written by Grace Edwards who is one of the writers behind Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt and Inside Amy Schumer.

I don't know about you, but I am a little bit concerned. I know that it seems like an easy win for MTV to bring back a classic, but I feel like it's almost impossible for it to capture the same attitude it had in the 90s. Times have changed way too much.

Even if Daria was still a teen, is she going to have a cellphone? Is she going to have a Twitter account? How are they going to incorporate social media into it when she would literally hate all of it?

What do you think? Is there anyway they can reboot Daria without it being absolute nonsense?

It's not the only 90s kids show to make a comeback. Double Dare is coming back really soon as well, with a bran new host and everything.

The Addams Family is also coming back with a brand new animated movie, because apparently nothing can be left alone.
