A 'Child's Play' Reboot Is Coming From The Producers of 'It'

MGM

Because it's 2018 and every single movie needs to be remade, the studio responsible for everyone's favorite evil doll is planning to bring him back.

Child's Play came out 30 years ago, and while you may not have expected a movie about an evil doll to become one of the most iconic franchises in the country, it's exactly what it did.

Chucky became one of the most notorious villains in the horror world, and managed to gain a huge cult following. Six sequels came out, as did a bunch of merchandise to go along with it.

MGM

The movies have been around for so long, and honestly they are still pretty amazing, but just like every other 80s and 90s movie, it's getting rebooted.

Not only is it being rebooted, it's being fast-tracked.

MGM made the original but sold the rights to Universal for all the sequels. However, now they've reclaimed the rights and are working hard to make a new version.

It's all because of the success of the remake of It by producers David Kratzenberg and Seth Grahme-Smith. Their movie managed to make a killing (pun intended) at the box office, so they are going to try it again with a new Chucky movie.

MGM

The new movie will be directed by Lars Klevberg (Polaroid) and written by Tyler Burton Smith (Kung Fury 2).

It has been reported that the remake will take place in modern day with teenagers as the main characters. I think it's fair to assume that Chucky will be back, but technically they haven't said whether or not it was going to be a new evil doll or not.

MGM

So far, the studio is trying to keep most of the details quiet, but we do know that they are trying to rush it along to get it out as soon as they can.

This will however be the first time that original writer Don Mancini won't be involved with the screen play of a Chucky movie. He has stayed with the project through all of the sequels and even worked on the TV show that is supposed to come out.

Do you think they should be bringing back the evil little doll that has haunted all of our dreams since 1988?
