98 Degrees Is Back And They Are Going On Tour
Remember 98 Degrees? They were a mildly successful boy band in the 90s that were a little bit over shadowed by some of the heavy-hitters like Backstreet Boys and *Nsync, but still had many fans.
A lot of their success probably had to do with Nick Lachey's very public marriage to Jessica Simpson. It helped bring attention to their music and keep people interested in them even though they were competing against so many other boy bands.
There are obviously a lot of forgotten boy bands, but 98 Degrees was probably one of the best. They had a bunch of really great slow jams that helped them stand out.
Their songs were catchy and they ended up getting a song featured in the Disney movie Mulan. "True to Your Heart" was a duet with Stevie Wonder and it helped propel them into the top tier of boy bands.
Their songs "Because of You" and "The Hardest Thing" ended up making it into the top five of the Billboard Hot 100, and eventually they made a Christmas album that sold very well.
Their first number one hit was a collaboration with Mariah Carrey and Joe called "Thank God I Found You". Their next song, "Give Me Just One Night (Una Noche)" managed to make it to number two, but shortly after the release of that album they called it quits and went on haitus.
But apparently 98 Degrees has been back for years now! They have some big plans coming up this year that their fans might want to know...
If you thought that your chance to see a 98 Degrees concert was long gone, you would be wrong. The band is actually going on tour this year! Not only that, but they have a new album that is coming out very soon!
Their new album is called "Let It Snow" and was released October 20th. This is the second Christmas album they have released but they are excited to be doing it again. Drew Lachey said that "to be a part of a family tradition and something that [our fans] put on every year, that's something -- that's pretty magical."
They have decided that this exciting release is a good enough reason to go on a 31-city Christmas tour starting in November. "We're going to do the hits as well, but it's going to be a Christmas tour," Justin Jeffre said. "We're going to do some songs from the latest CD and, yeah, we're looking forward to it. We toured last summer and had a blast and I think we have a lot more fun these days than we did back then [20 years ago]. Maybe it's because we're just more experienced and there's less pressure, but the fans are still there."
The tour will take them all over the country. It starts in Minneapolis on November 10th and will end in Nevada on December 23rd. This year marks the 20th anniversary of their first release so the concert is a pretty big deal! You can get all their tour details here and see if they are playing in a city near you.
While this concert may be a little overshadowed by some of the bigger names who are still out there, it's nice to see that there is still a place in the world for 90s music!
