It's hard to tell what movie is going to be the next big smash-hit, especially when all you have to go on is the script. In the case of these 15 movies, their stars might've genuinely thought that these would launch them to stardom, but instead they practically ruined their careers.

Alicia Silverstone - Batman and Robin

Alicia Silverstone was a genuine star thanks to movies like Clueless, but between the movie's terrible box-office performance and the media frenzy about her gaining a bit of weight before filming, she ended up stepping away from acting.

Chris O'Donnell - Batman and Robin

Batman and Robin is so bad it ruined two up-and-coming careers; Chris O'Donnell never really recovered after playing Robin.

Sean Connery - The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen

For some reason, Hollywood perpetually thinks it's a good idea to get pop singers to act, and in the case of J-Lo, it took this disaster of a movie she co-starred in with her future husband, Ben Affleck, for them to realize that maybe she wasn't cut out for it.

Once one of the biggest movie stars on the planet, Travolta tanked his credibility with this horrendous sci-fi tribute to Scientology and never really recovered.
