The "Family Matters" House Is About To Disappear, But These Other Famous Sitcom Houses Are Still Standing

ABC / Google Street View

Family Matters was one of the most iconic shows of the 90s. Steve Urkel may have caused a lot of mayhem in the Winslow house, but that was what made us love him.

ABC

The Winslows lived in a house in Chicago, and they managed to survive 9 years of Urkel's invasions. He may have been a bit of a goofball, but we all enjoyed watching his crazy antics. The house was amazing, but now after all these years the city is planning on destroying the house.

The interior shots were filmed on a set, but the exterior was always filmed using a home in Chicago. It is located on 1516 W. Wrightwood Ave., and was obviously featured prominently in the opening sequence and throughout the show.

ABC

The saddest part about the demolition is that it will be taken down to make way for a condo building. They apparently considered trying to save the building, but "ultimately determined renovating the home wasn't a viable option."

The house will be take down and a "three-unit residence" will go up in its place. The broker is however claiming that the owners are planning to honor the original home by  "decorat[ing] the entry with framed photographs of the original house and the show's beloved cast."

ABC

They haven't revealed when they plan on beginning the demolition, but if you want to get a look at the original Winslow house, I would suggest going sooner rather than later.

This isn't the only home from our childhood that we would like to visit. There are other houses that we would like to know what they look like now...

The Tanner House

The San Francisco home actually was up for sale a few years ago, but luckily the show's producer snapped it up. He purchased it back in 2016 and has repainted it, and has said that he might even use it for filming some of Fuller House.

The Clampett's Mansion

The Beverly Hillbillies made it right, but if you had enough money you could also live like the Clampett's because their house was up for sale!

Coldwell Banker Global Luxury, Hilton & Hyland, and Berkshire Hathaway Home Services

Roseanne's House

Roseanne's house was supposed to be in Landford, Illinois, but because that isn't a real place, the house is actually located in Evansville, Indiana. It still looks pretty much the same!

The Brady's House

Hard to believe that that many people could live in a house this size huh? It's changed a little bit over the years, apparently owners don't love when people come and stare at their house so they try to deter them by switching out the decor...
