The Dragon Ball Z Game You've Always Wanted Is Coming Soon

VG247

Anyone who spent the 90s and early 2000s watching cartoons is likely no stranger to Dragon Ball Z. One of the most beloved animated shows to come out of Japan in the last two decades, the sequel to the original Dragon Ball captivated young audiences everywhere with its stories of intergalactic warriors battling it out in increasingly ridiculous fistfights.

<amp-img src="https://legacy.throwbacks.com/content/images/2017/06/dragon-ball-z-220357.jpg" title="" alt="" height="9" width="16" layout="responsive"></amp-img>
And increasingly ridiculous hairstyles.ComicBook.com

Of course, anyone who grew up on the show has wanted to recreate their favorite fights from the series (or even more ridiculous match-ups that the show never had the chance to make happen). While some of us tried on the playground (and probably still have the scars to show for it), video games have often given us less destructive ways of doing so.

<amp-img src="https://legacy.throwbacks.com/content/images/2017/06/maxresdefault-14.jpg" title="" alt="" height="9" width="16" layout="responsive"></amp-img>
YouTube

However, anyone who's followed the game adaptations of Dragon Ball Z can attest that the games have been pretty mixed in terms of quality. While the Budokai franchise and recent Xenoverse series are well-liked by fans, plenty of others (looking at you Battle of Z) were mediocre titles meant as fan-service first and good games second. To this day, it feels like we're still waiting on a game that truly captures the frantic pace and massive attacks of the show.

Well, our wait might be over.

<amp-youtube height="9" width="16" layout="responsive" data-videoid="Ebd74vqVWI8"></amp-youtube>

Announced just before E3 2017 and shown off during Microsoft's Xbox conference, Dragon Ball FighterZ looks like the Dragon Ball Z game we've always wanted. Best of all, it's got a hell of a pedigree behind it.

<amp-youtube height="9" width="16" layout="responsive" data-videoid="BAKSgWQ6AeU"></amp-youtube>

The game is being developed by Arc System Works, who fighting game fans will instantly recognize as the developers behind the beloved Guilty Gear and BlazBlue games. They're one of the biggest names in Japanese 2D fighting games right now, and it looks like they're bringing all of their talent and care to Dragon Ball FighterZ.

<amp-img src="https://legacy.throwbacks.com/content/images/2017/06/dragonballfighterz-feature-min.jpg" title="" alt="" height="9" width="16" layout="responsive"></amp-img>
This looks seriously awesome.Wordpress

The game is due out in early 2018 and is confirmed for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC. Who are you excited to duke it out as? Personally, I'm gonna have Future Trunks beat up Krillin a bit.

What do you think?

<amp-apester-media height="390" data-apester-media-id="593ed0fb80639da10ef599c7"></amp-apester-media>

Like other cartoons from the 90s? They Brought Back The Classic 80s Arcades From Your Childhood That You've Been Missing And We Want To Go

Video games in the 80s were completely different than they are now. Now we can all play our games on the go, but in the 80s you had to go to a specific building if you wanted to enjoy some kind of electronic fun.
