The Feud Between The Original Aunt Viv and Will Smith Just Got More Intense

We've known for a while now that the feud between Will Smith and the Original Aunt Vivian, Janet Hubert, has been burning for decades now.

It's like a constant breeze, we just kind barely notice it most of the time, but every once and a while the winds kick up and it's knocking us to the ground and tearing down all of our tree branches.

The fact is, Smith and Hubert do not get along. Not one bit. But now, decades since they last worked together, there is new fuel to the fire of this feud that has people talking.

NBC

Over the weekend, Janet Hubert allegedly shared a troubling post where she said "Dear Will... you destroyed my life with your lies... YOU win my son is in the hospital. #suicideattempt."

The tricky thing is it's hard to know what is real or fake on the internet these days, and currently Janet Hubert's Facebook has been changed since this was posted, but if this is real this is very upsetting.

She released another post on her Facebook, the only one that can be seen, that says that she has made the page private because it has "affected too many lives."

There has been no official news about Hubert's 25-year-old son Elijah Whitten's condition, but if this is true we honestly hope that he is receiving some good medical care away from prying eyes.

This isn't the first time that Hubert has accused Smith of affecting her career and her life. In an interview shortly after she was fired from the show both Hubert and Smith revealed their true feelings about each other.

NBC

It was Smith who spoke out first, but Hubert was quick to come back.

"I can say straight up that Janet Hubert wanted the show to be 'The Aunt Viv of Bel-Air Show' because I know she is going to dog me in the press...

"She has basically gone from a quarter of a million dollars a year to nothing. She's mad now but she's been mad all along.

"She said once, 'I've been in the business for 10 years and this snotty-nosed punk comes along and gets a show.' No matter what to her I'm just the Anti-Christ."

NBC

After Smith's statement came out, Hubert opened up.

"He probably is responsible for my firing. He has a lot of clout. It's too bad that it's a Black-on-Black attack. I tried not to name names. I have more class than that.

"I wish Will would tell the truth. If you're going to talk, tell the truth. He has gotten me fired from the show and now he is trying to snatch my career away from me (with his recent comments).

"I have not slandered him in any way. Anyone who stands up to Mr. Smith on Fresh Prince is gone. I reprimanded him constantly for being rude to people and locking himself up in his room."

You may think that the feud would simmer down over the years, but as time went on, Hubert remained angry about it and wasn't afraid to speak up about it, saying that she has "no interest in seeing any of these people [cast of Fresh Prince] on that kind of level."

Her fans agree that she was targeted by Smith, and that his comments affected her career. One fan wrote on Twitter what he thought.

"She basically had her whole career ruined because Will Smith labeled her as difficult to work with, On top of her being an older Dark Skinned actress in the 90s.

"You can only imagine her being labeled as “difficult to work with” would have done for her career. Let's try to show a little empathy and look to understand where she's coming from..."

NBC

It's heartbreaking to know that she is going through such a hard time, and without knowing the whole story it's obviously impossible to know how or why she would have even mentioned Smith's name.

We may never find out the truth, but maybe one day she will release that tell-all book she has been talking about for a few years now, so we can learn more about the actress we all grew up loving.

For now, she's being smart, and prioritizing her family and their well-being.

Hubert does have some good memories about the show, specifically about the episode where she did the iconic dance. She recently shared those memories and it's nice to know there were some highlights for her.
