Microsoft Tried To Kill Their Greatest Creation, But The Internet Wouldn't Let It Die

CTV News

Everyone panicked when Microsoft announced that that there were a whole bunch of features that they were abandoning in future releases and updates.

The said they were getting rid of Outlook Express, the Reader app and a few other functions, but the one that caught everyone off guard was them saying that Microsoft Paint would not longer be available.

There was panic in the streets! Chaos everywhere you could see! And the sobbing cries of 90s kids who know no system better than Paint.

Seriously, just look at the outpouring of love this program got:

But this outpouring of love made Microsoft pay attention. Click to the next page to find out what they announced.

Paint is not dead yet! Everyone rejoice! Microsoft has pushed CTRL+Z on this whole plan because we all threw such a fit. Good job everyone!

Microsoft has said that Paint "is here to stay". There is one difference that WILL take effect though, but at least there is some hope.

Microsoft explained (or backtracked) by saying that while Microsoft paint wasn't going to be installed on new systems, they will still have it available to download for free on the Windows Store.

The Microsoft blog released a statement that said: "Amidst today’s commentary around MS Paint we wanted to take this opportunity to set the record straight, clear up some confusion and share some good news: MS Paint is here to stay, it will just have a new home soon, in the Windows Store where it will be available for free."

They do try to sell us on their fancier version Paint 3D but you know what, why fix what ain't broke? The original is perfect for what we want it to do!

Are you happy that Paint is sticking around? Share if you are as relieved as we are!
