'Beetlejuice' Is Celebrating Its 30th Anniversary By Returning To The Big Screen
"Beetlejuice... Beetlejuice... Beetlejuice!"
It's been 30 years since we were first introduced to the zany and bizarre Michael Keaton character, but it's not like we've forgotten about him at all.
Over the years, the movie Beetlejuice has maintained cultural relevance, probably because it's unlike anything else out there. Sure, there are lots of crazy characters, but you cannot even pretend that they come anywhere close to the level of weird that Beetlejuice manages to possess.
As they celebrate their 30th anniversary, a new remastered version of the movie is getting released in theaters.
It's going to be playing in theaters across the country as well as in the United Kingdom, Canada, France, Spain, Switzerland, Taiwan, Australia, and Latin America. So people all around the world can revisit the classic film.
Obviously we are living in the era of reboots, and with such a classic movie people tend to worry about it being remade. So far there aren't any official plans, but director Tim Burton isn't about to rule it out, or even talk about it.
"Rule number one, do not talk about future [movies] until they are realized. In the past I have talked about two projects that were then canceled. I love the character. If it has to happen, it will happen. Better not to plan too far in advance. We'll see."
He said this back in 2016, so there is a chance he's changed his mind. While his love of the character may inspire another Beetlejuice movie, the movie wouldn't be the same without its star. But Keaton may not be willing to jump back into that striped suit any time soon.
