Very Important Style Advice From The 80s

Sometimes when you are looking for a new look, you need to look into the past for inspiration. The best decade that you should use as your muse is obviously 80s. Everyone obviously looked their best when sporting spandex and rocking a perm.

What kinds of beauty advice did they give back then? Well, lets take a look at some of their styles to see what we should all be doing when it comes to our beauty routines.

Business in the Front, Party in the Back.

No one looks better then when they have those long locks flowing down behind their ears while they trim the top in close. Perfection.

No one likes a cold ankle, but also no one should wear pants.

Everyone seemed to be very anti-pants while also not wanting to catch a chill. Very responsible in my opinion. Good job.

Take those blazers and roll up the sleeves, it'll take you from business to party-time in no time!

You can't have those pesky sleeve getting in the way, push them up and get to partying!

Why would you ever get sweat in your eyes when you can look so stylish!

I feel like we should also address the suspenders on the exercise outfit, but maybe it is better to leave it alone.

Crimp that hair to make a real impact

It's the best way to make your hair as large as possible!

Whether your hair is curly, straight, short, long or anywhere in between: TEASE IT

The bigger, the better.

Emulate your favorite rock stars.

Dressing like Bon Jovi would really make use of your scarf collection. Also, you are going to need a lot of hairspray.

Grow out that mustache.

Idolize the glory that is Magnum P.I.'s mustache and do your very best to mimic it.

Fishnets are a valid article of clothing, don't let anyone tell you different.

There is just a lot more air circulation, but don't worry - you have your leg warmers to keep you warm.

The more fluorescent colors on your body, the better.

It also helps if the fabric makes a distinctive swishing sound as you move. The louder your outfit, the more stylish it is.

The bigger your shoulders appear, the more powerful you will become.

Either pointed or rounded, as long as your shoulder width is as wide as most doorways you should be good to go.

Ponytails should be high, off to the side and held in place with the largest scrunchie you can find.

it will really help that ponytail get the height it needs.

If you can't commit to a full mullet, you can just get a little rat tail!

It's like a mullet's little brother.

Looking like you are on vacation is the most stylish way to hang out. Seriously, just do everything you can to become Magnum P.I.

Everything this man does is gold.

Athletic gear means wearing revealing leotards and short shorts, it's just required.

Pull those shorts up, and make sure everything is made from the shiniest of spandex!

There is no such thing as too much makeup.

Eyeshadow up to the eyebrow, eyeliner all over, blush that is the brightest of pinks are really all you need to look beautiful.

You need to have at least have on five layers at all times. Also, having a trench coat on hand will really up your style game as well.

Don't forget the fingerless gloves.

Celebrate your ability to use excessive hair products by styling your hair in interesting and dynamic ways.

The more directions you can put your hair at once the better.

If your sleeves aren't poofy enough to fit a small dog or child inside, they are not big enough.

You want to have a lot of clearance in there, fabric should not touch your skin directly. What were your best 80s fashion moments? Do any of these sound familiar? Share with your classic 80s looks!

The True Story Behind "The Sound of Music" Is Even Better Than Whiskers On Kittens

When Julie Andrews brought the sound of music down from the mountains and into our hearts, she brought with it a love for the real-life von Trapp family, who the story was based on. The movie follows the autobiography of the real Maria von Trapp, who was a nun that became a part of an Austrian family before the Nazi occupation in World War II.
