Assemble The Midnight Society, Because 'Are You Afraid Of The Dark?' Is Coming Back

There was one simple question that haunted us through our childhoods, and honestly still sends a shiver up our spine to this day. "Are You Afraid Of The Dark?" was one of our favorite shows, but also the source of almost all of our nightmares.

It was a Nickelodeon show that ran from 1992-1996, and in its short run managed to gain quite a following. The spooky stories that they told still haunt us to this day, but honestly, we want more.

Nickelodeon

The teens in the show were all a part of 'The Midnight Society', where they would gather around a campfire to share the scariest stories they heard. They would start each story by saying "submitted for the approval of the Midnight Society, I call this story [the name of the episode]" before they would throw that very spooky "midnight dust" on the camp fire.

Obviously, each story was unique and terrifying in its own way, but something about the way it was told was an important part. There were a lot of shows trying to scare us when we were little, whether it was Goosebumps, Tales From The Crypt, or Freaky Stories, but none were quite as good as Are You Afraid Of The Dark?.

Nickelodeon

Well, luckily it's time to welcome a whole new generation of kids into the Midnight Society, because Are You Afraid Of The Dark? is coming back with a brand new movie. Here is what we know so far...

Everything seems to be getting remade these days. Each and every childhood classic seems to have a reboot in the works, and now it's time for Are You Afraid of the Dark? to be modernized and redone.

Nickelodeon

Paramount Pictures will be bringing the 90s classic to the big screen, with a movie written by the person who was responsible for the recent hit movie IT. The terrifying clown was a huge hit this year, and if that is any indication of screenwriter, Gary Dauberman's, ability to write a remake, the show is probably in good hands.

Nickelodeon

Dauberman also wrote some other super spooky movies that have come out in the last few years, including, Annabelle: Creation, The Nun, and The Conjuring. Obviously, scary themes are his forte so Are You Afraid Of The Dark? has a really good chance of being amazing.

Are you interested in this new reboot? Or would you rather just rewatch the original series?
