The early 2000s were a pretty good time to be a teenager. It was a transition time between the 90s (which were terrible for a lot of reasons) and the current culture that we have now (which needs no explanation).

The house parties I went to in those years were pretty good, and we had some pretty good music to jam out to while we drank our sodas. And we all know that a party just wasn't a party without some great music.

Here are 10 jams from the early 2000s that you would (and expect) to hear when you went out on the weekend to get your party on.

1. "Tipsy" - J-Kwon

It was fairly accurate to assume that everyone was already tipsy whenever this song found its way into the rotation.

2. "Stand Up" - Ludacris

Everyone got a chance to practice their gangster lean when this song told you what to do.

3. "Hey Ya!" - Outkast

Even if "Ms. Jackson" wasn't your cup of tea, Outkast knew how to get you moving with "Hey Yeah!".

4. "Yeah" - Usher

Usher, Lil' Jon, and Ludacris were all burning up the airwaves in the early 2000s, and when they came together on a song, the world collectively lost their mind.

5. "Hot In Herre" - Nelly

Even though the song was encouraging the loss of clothing, it was a safer bet to keep it on. The temperature always did seem to rise when this song played.

6. "Get Busy" - Sean Paul

Everyone did "shake that" whenever this song started playing. It usually wound up playing a couple times a night.

7. "Sittin' Sideways" - Paul Wall

He was like a flash in the pan, but when Paul Wall had us "Sittin' Sideways," we were all having a good time.

8. "In Da Club" - 50 Cent

It was even better if it really was your birthday that you were celebrating.

9. "Ridin'" - Chamillionaire

Everyone thought they were ridin' dirty whenever this song came on. It's just sad that few listeners actually know who Krayzie Bone is.

10. "No Scrubs" - TLC

Yes, this song came out in 1999, but it helped dominate the dance floor at parties for several years after that. It was a clear sign of what the ladies were looking for, and if you were a scrub, it was time to head home for the night.
