"White Chicks 2" Is Happening But Not Everyone Is Excited

That Grape Juice

Where do I start with this 2004 comedy classic? Director Keenen Ivory Wayans's movie White Chicks is the only movie my family and I can agree on.

The cast is likable and hilarious, and the plot is basic, but entertaining. Two FBI agent brothers who dress up as pair of twin socialites is comedic genius, but it's the actors that really made the film so lovable.

The only thing wrong with this more than decade-old film is that it doesn't have a sequel (yet). Now I know what you're thinking, sequels suck. I'm not a big fan of sequels either, but sometimes it's not so much about the plot, but about a reunion of the characters.

The film had a pretty conclusive ending, but I'd love for these two FBI agents to go on another adventure.

Side note: If they really want to make this movie amazing, they have to give Terry Crews, who plays Latrell Spencer, a bigger role. That scene where he lip synced to Vanessa Carlton's A Thousand Miles had me crying with tears.

After unprecedented support for a sequel, Marlon Wayans, who played Marcus, announced that White Chicks 2 will be happening.

However, not everyone is jumping up and down with excitement like I am...

Marlon told The Huffington Post that it's his "mission" to finish the sequel because "the response has been overwhelming and amazing."

The White Chicks 2 poster that was posted on his social media profiles received more than 1.5 million likes.

"This movie is something that my fans really want," Wayans said. "This is a movie that definitely should be made. I'm on a mission to make this happen. I know with all that's happened in the pop culture and the socialite circles since the original White Chicks we can surely knock a sequel way out the park."

The Wayans brothers have been wanting to make a sequel to this movie for a long time now. In 2009, there were talks that the movie was going to hit the big screen, but then we heard nothing from either of the brothers.

To my surprise, there are lots of people who hate this movie. It was nominated for five Razzies and two Stinkers. Here's what some people on social media wrote:

"After so many years? Idk man, it might be trash at this point if not, I'll eat my words."

"That brand of humor doesn't work in 2018 and given the track record of every comedy sequel, it's very difficult to top the original."

"I don't want to see Marlon Wayans put on his Gwenyth Paltrow costume again. The first wasn't funny and the second one will be even worse."

I'm starting to understand why people hate it, but I still can't help but feel entertained when I watch this movie, even if the jokes may be a little lame for today.

What's your opinion? Are you excited for 'White Chicks 2'?
