'Mary Poppins Returns' Has Finally Released A Trailer And My 10-Year-Old Self Can't Stop Screaming

Growing up, Mary Poppins was one my all time favorite films. The Disney classic saw Julie Andrews play the titular role of the magical nanny, who I wished was my babysitter whenever my parents were away.

When it was first announced that Disney was planning a sequel, I was certain it wouldn't be as grand, as the leading actress would have big shoes to fill.

But, when the first photo of the cast was released back in January, I couldn't help but think Emily Blunt had an uncanny resemblance to the iconic Andrews.

Featuring Lin-Manuel Miranda as Jack (who was formerly played by the legendary Dick Van Dyke), my skepticism slowly ebbed away.

Now, the first trailer of the highly anticipated film has been released, and my newfound opinion has firmly been cemented.

Fittingly, the teaser trailer was aired during a commercial break for the 90th Academy Awards, and sees Mary Poppins returning to London after 25 years to visit an adult Jane (Emily Mortimer) and Michael Banks (Ben Whishaw).

The movie will also star Meryl Streep as Mary’s cousin Topsy, Angela Lansbury as the Balloon Lady, and Colin Firth as a banker named William Weatherall Wilkins.

Van Dyke is also set to make a cameo, as he reprises his role of Mr. Dawes Jr.  He told Entertainment Tonight: "I'll be going to London in the spring to do my role, and I get to do a little song and dance number. I think I just have the one scene and a little song and dance in it."

Still doubtful? Take a look of the trailer yourself!

The film is set to be released on Christmas 2018.

Are you excited for the Mary Poppins reboot?
