So much happened that changed the world for years to come, and we all thought that it could easily end with the millennium. It can be hard to remember everything that happened this month, let alone twenty years ago!

President Clinton Bans Human Cloning

Following the famous birth of Dolly the Sheep, the world's first cloned mammal, then-president Bill Clinton decided to take action to ensure that the country's ethics would not be trespassed against by forbidding any research on human cloning.

'Phoenix Lights' Incident

On March 13, 1997, thousands of people in Arizona were witness to a disturbing sight. People all across the city of Phoenix looked to the skies and reported two sets of flying lights and objects. The military explained one set of lights, but the other remains unsolved to this day...

Loomis Fargo Bank Robbery

It was the second largest cash bank robbery ever in the United States, and it didn't involved masks or Tommy guns (unfortunately). It wasn't extremely well thought out, as the prime suspect and perpetrator was the only one with access that night, David Ghantt, wasn't at work the next day, and was clearly viewed on camera removing the cash. Eventually,most of the $17.3 million dollars in stolen cash would be reclaimed less than a year later.

First Color NY Times

On October 16th, 1997, the prestigious NY Times finally premiered its first color photographs on its front page. There was a lot of backlash from the media community for breaking tradition, but now we can't imagine it any other way!
