We Were Right, The 'Crocodile Dundee' Trailer You Saw At Super Bowl 2018 Was Fake, Here's Why

When we heard that one of our favorite adventure comedy films was set to come back, we had our reasons to be skeptical. They even featured the trailer at the 52nd Super Bowl, so you thought they had to be serious!

The trailer for Dundee: The Son of a Legend Returns Home came out of nowhere, leaving us all scratching our heads in confusion.

They even had a website that got us all excited: "Crocodile Dundee is back. Well, actually, he's missing in the Outback. And the only person who might be able to find him is the loudmouthed American son no one knew he had. Introducing Danny McBride as Brian Dundee. The son of a legend is forced to channel his Aussie roots as he teams up with a local expert, Wally Jr., played by Chris Hemsworth. Together they'll embark on the ultimate adventure in the land down under. It's time to live up to the family name."

Danny even shared that he's excited that this movie will bring back Paul Hogan:

"Crocodile Dundee is a film that has stood the test of time. It was a defining moment in my life and one of my proudest accomplishments. Throughout the past few years, I've been thinking about how to bring Dundee to a new generation. I'm excited to introduce the new Crocodile Dundee to the world and look forward to sharing more news about those involved very soon."

Take a look at the trailer, it looks legit, right?

In fact, it was a mock trailer, and here's why.

It's estimated that 110 million people were watching the New England Patriots and Philadelphia Eagles play for the championship, so a 60-second mock trailer was the perfect way to get a message across.

The Thor star is of Australian descent, but did you know that he's a Tourism Australia ambassador?

Paul Hogan actually gave permission from the tourism body to make this $36 million project happen.

Now it makes sense why Chris takes Danny on a "tour of Australia." You gotta give it to them, they did a pretty good job promoting the country and its beautiful landscape.

Although it was a ploy to get more people to travel to Australia, some people are seriously excited for the possibility of a Crocodile Dundee movie.
