Growing up, there were many not-so-innocent movie plots and song lyrics that went over our naive heads. I mean, we even happily sang some of them out loud in public without even knowing what they meant.
Now that we're older, we've come to the realization that the world isn't as squeaky clean as we believed it to be while we were growing up in the 90s.
At some point, we have all experienced that "Aha!" moment when we learn that something we enjoyed while young isn't as innocent as we thought it to be.
For a lot of 90s kids, this moment happened recently, and it involves the very popular dance tune, "The Macarena."
The song was released in 1994 by the Spanish pop duo Los del Río and its catchy beat and iconic dance moves instantly inspired a craze. No wedding, bar mitzvah or reunion in the 90s was complete without people breaking into the dance.
Even today, some of us still do the dance and try sing (more like mumble) the fast lyrics every single time the song is played, but we still had no idea what the song is about, until now.
The curious minds at Distractify Video got to the bottom of the mystery, and our innocent 90s souls weren't ready for this.
