'Four Weddings And A Funeral' Is Coming Back, But Not As A Movie

Four Weddings And A Funeral is one of those movies that everyone seems to love. Even though it's a romantic comedy, it managed to appeal to a wide audience and bring in over $200 million at the box office. The studio is hoping to bring it back, but this time as a TV show.

The show is currently in development with Hulu, and will be a little bit different than a lot of others shows. They are calling it an "anthology" instead of a TV series, and will be handled differently than what you'd expect.

They have hired Mindy Kailing to develop and write the project, accompanied by her Mindy Project showrunner Matt Warburton. They will be working closely with the original film's team to make sure the vision is consistent. The film's original writer Richard Curtis has signed on as executive producer, as have several producers that Kailing has worked with on her show.

They have decided to go in a different direction than most other remakes, opting for something more unusual...

In most shows you follow all of the characters at one, in the remake of Four Weddings and a Funeral, each season will explore an individual character's story line. They will be using the four weddings and the one funeral as the premise for the five seasons, with the characters' stories weaving through all five events.

Kailing's series The Mindy Project will have its series finale on November 14th, so she will be able to focus on this new project. The show is expected to be made early next year once the script is completed.
