The 6 Times We Waited Too Long For Sequels That Were Honestly Just 'Meh'

Movie Pilot / CGSociety

You would think that the longer someone has to work on something, the better it will be. Unfortunately, when it comes to studios revamping our favorite films, this isn't always the case.

Whoever coined the term "It's worth the wait" had obviously never seen these movies!

Tron - 28 Years

The original, which came out all the way back in 1982, was a veritable cult classic. Sure, it looked like crap, but at the time it was cutting edge. Unlike the 2010 edition of Tron: Legacy, which was really just an excuse to see Olivia Wilde in skintight clothing.

Mad Max - 29 Years

Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome was an insane, action-packed thrill ride, that was way too much for 1985 audiences to handle. When Fury Road came out in 2015, everyone who never saw the first couldn't believe it, but really, it was just better special effects. Yawn.

Star Wars - 32 Years

It was good to see Carrie Fisher return to her badass role in this popular sci-fi series, but I think I speak for all of us when I say we could have gone another few years before seeing this one return. How about you force awaken me when the plot gets interesting...

The Maltese Falcon - 34 Years

The Maltese Falcon is perhaps one of the ultimate creations in the film noir genre, with mystery, thrill, and a legendary performance by the iconic Humphrey Bogart. I bet you've never even heard of The Black Bird.

The Jungle Book - 35 Years

Another in the long line-up of forced Disney classic returns, The Jungle Book 2 did it's best to give us a new story with our beloved characters without actually changing much. It's also hard to make a movie based around "Aren't women just super annoying?"

Blade Runner - 35 Years

I get it. You went and saw it for Harrison Ford and Ryan Gosling being on the same card. Their performances, decent; the action scenes, pretty cool; the pacing, awful. The biggest cover-up in this whole movie seems to be the plot.

What do you think of waiting a couple of decades for a sub-par sequel? Let us know in the comments!
